ENRICHING OUR CURRICULUM AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY
Curriculum Enrichment Leader: Miss Haythornthwaite
Sports Play Leader: Miss Lloyd Enrichment Sports Clubs: Mr Baer & Miss Woodcock
We have designed three times in the school day for opportunities to extend social and academic learning opportunities and enhance our 'When I Grow Up...' curriculum.
These are FIT TO LEARN ENRICHMENT LUNCHTIMES, our extra-curricular ENRICHMENT CLUBS and ENRICHMENT TIME.
* After the Covid-19 delays, we will be implementing the next phase of this from September 2020.
1) FIT TO LEARN LUNCHTIME PROVISION is well underway and can be found on its dedicated pages in the 'Our School' section of this website.
3) ENRICHMENT TIME from September 2020. Click here for details on its dedicated website page.
Our aim is to focus upon the social, emotional and physical aspects of the curriculum at lunchtimes, whilst creating curriculum time and after-school groups which develop and deepen current learning taking place in the curriculum - focusing particularly upon targets relating to interests, gifts, talents or other specific area of need.
At lunchtimes we are creating many new activities and zones. After school we are refining the range of 'clubs' making them higher quality, more specific to current learning, giving them greater purpose and aiming to ensure that by doing this they fulfill our vision and offer to our children. During the curriculum time work we have chosen to focus upon PSHE and the non-core 'creator' areas at this initial stage.
Our after school work will also enable our children to experience competitive sporting events from an intra-school perspective (competition within our school) with carefully planned practice and preparation, something ourselves and our parents have said we can develop further. We are acting fully upon this.
As with everything at Mayfield right now, we have an exciting future as we build our school as the place to be.
