A major priority of our PE/Sports Premium funding has been to address lunchtimes as the ideal way to enable 30 minutes of active, positive 'well-being' play with the aim for such lunchtimes to provide a Fit To Learn outcome that immediately has a positive impact upon the learning to follow in that vital afternoon time. We have created a whole new approach to lunchtimes. Rather than a traditional playground we have established play zones which create opportunities for structured games and well resourced play activities alongside adult and pupil led provision to formulate the most unique playground you will see. We have transformed this large underutilised space into a key part of our wider enrichment offer and, in the process, continue to work towards 60 active minutes each day in school. Mental and physical well-being can be greatly enhanced with positive and active lunchtimes - this is our unique solution.Take a look at our map below and step outside at lunchtime to see these zones in action!

Our 'Lunchtime Sports Play Leader' manages and organise this provision on a daily basis and has a developing team of children to assist her from across school as her 'junior' sports play leaders.

We have a newly appointed project leader to look at the wider implementation, progression and impact of the work - this is Miss Haythornthwaite.

Its different. Its fun. Its why 'new' Mayfield is a unique and fabulous place to be.

Remember our three major goals for our project!

1) Increase active participation in games and sports for key groups of children for up to 30 minutes per day.

2) To feel mentally ready for learning in the afternoon.

3) To create leadership opportunities and responsibilities for our children.

USING OUR PE/SPORTS PREMIUM FUNDING AND OUR MAYFIELD TOGETHER FUND RAISING EFFORTS.
