ATTENDANCE 24/25: ANOTHER EXCELLENT YEAR - BUT KEEP IT GOING

Another year of strong attendance maintaining the picture we have shown since I joined Mayfield as Headteacher. Well done to everyone. The 'Don't Miss A Minute' campaign continues to plough forward each year. We have high numbers of children hitting our 96% target and each class has recorded high figures collectively. Punctuality remains strong with just a very small number of recurring families continuing to struggle to meet the 9.00 start time on occasion. We really have turned the story of attendance and punctuality from one of below national average trends prior to 2019 into one where we are consistently above all national averages since 2019. Take a close look at the figures below, you will see all groups have performed exceptionally well. We continue to be particularly pleased with our disadvantaged group attendance as this is above all children nationally which is highly significant. I think this reflects two parts of school life. Firstly, it reflects the positive story of school life during the last six years and the desire for our children to be here. Secondly, it reflects the hard work of the attendance team to keep pushing our harder to reach families to get into school each day. The many strategies they employ - each personal to the family concerned - have a hugely positive influence on these figures. Well done to the team!

We have to keep working at this: we know that more challenging attitudes to school attendance are out there nationally and the profile across the country continues to worry everyone, all we can do is continue to work hard and employ our high profile strategies in the years to come. Right now they are working well!

Below are the final headline figures for the academic year 2024/2025. It reflects another really good year. But we must keep it going and keep the profile of 'Don't Miss A Minute' as high as we possibly can. It is vital that families keep buying into the importance of attending school each day.
