Our Curriculum: Remote Learning Plan
REMOTE LEARNING PLAN

PLEASE NOTE OUR REMOTE LEARNING OFFER IS ON STANDBY AND WILL BE DEPLOYED WHEN CIRCUMSTANCES REQUIRE IT.
This offer/plan has been developed from the orginal offer from the two reduced opening lockdown periods of 2020 and 2021.
THE ELEMENTS BELOW WOULD DEPEND UPON FULL OR PARTIAL CLASS/SCHOOL CLOSURE.
A FULL SCHOOL DAY 'LIVE' - EVERY SCHOOL DAY OR 'ON DEMAND' TO SUIT NEED AND/OR CONTEXT.
UP TO 4 HOURS AND 30 MINUTES OF LEARNING PLANNED BY YOUR CLASS TEACHER EVERY SCHOOL DAY.
TEACHERS AVAILABLE AND IN LIVE CONTACT FROM 8.45 TO 3.15 EVERY SCHOOL DAY.
A REMOTE LEARNING MANAGER SUPERVISING PROVISION AND TROUBLE SHOOTING - EVERY SCHOOL DAY.
Designed and tested during the aforementioned partial opening lockdown periods, our current remote learning offer is no hastily planned response to a crisis.
This is the criteria we established and our remote learning aims to deliver the following:
* Have the facility to replicate a 'live' school day in its entirety. We wanted the rhythm and routine of school to be in place and available to all.
* Create a remote learning offer that can be an 'on demand' facility as well for those families who needs, situation and context differ.
* Teachers being live and available every school day - during school hours.
* A mixture of live film, recorded film, live blogs and directed supporting sites.
* The remote learning offer is as closely aligned as possible to in-school curriculum that would have taken place. All units and themes are a remote version of our current 'in school' offer.
* Remote learning activities are a suitably accessible version of the planned classroom learning - only 'impossible to replicate experiences' will be replaced with another suitable option.
* Staff take their existing intended planning and adapt this for remote purposes.
* It is vital that the planned curriculum is delivered, as far as possible, in order to ensure we can make continued assessments of children's current attainment and progress and so that our subject leaders can monitor expectations easier.
* THE SYSTEM MUST ALLOW FOR PERSONALISED FEEDBACK, REWARD AND RESPONSE WHERE POSSIBLE.
* THE SYSTEM MUST ALLOW FOR AS PERSONALISED AN OFFER AS POSSIBLE - TO REPLICATE THE PERSONALISED STARTING POINT AND SMALL GROUP PHILOSOPHY IN THE CLASSROOM.
* Chosen platforms for learning must, where deemed essential, allow for personalised responses in the 'most swift, consistent and manageable way possible'.
* Platforms for learning must be familiar to our children - to aid operation.
* Remote Learning must meet our 'Valuing Every Achievement' vision and supporting rationale.
* The remote learning system must allow us to monitor engagement from our children and families - allowing us to respond in timely fashion where needed.
* The remote learning offer must be available on day one to assess teething troubles and making revisions and developments from day two - we achieved this fully.
* Build in the facility for 'social well-being' time within the week - where the focus is upon digital meeting and communication rather than simply accessing activities/work.
* The facility for families to offer feedback daily direct to school.
* A weekly summary response provided to families by school leaders using feedback received and questions from families. (We do this via YouTube & Weekly News FAQs.)
* Our safeguarding team must respond directly with families where there are concerns about remote learning being utilised.
ACCEPT THAT THE CONSISTENT SUCCESS OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY IS DEPENDENT UPON APPROPRIATE INTERNET CONNECTION ETC....THERE WILL BE FRUSTRATIONS AT TIMES!

BELOW ARE OUR ARCHIVE SECTIONS FROM THE FULL REMOTE LEARNING PERIODS OF 2020 & 2021, THESE MESSAGES ARE RELEVANT TO OUR CURRENT OFFER SHOULD IT BE NEEDED AND THEREFORE ADD MORE INFORMATION TO THE ABOVE NOTICES.
'We have not stood still at Mayfield since our full re-opening for Autumn Term 2020. We spent Spetember and October 2020 making full preparations for any extensive bubble or school closure due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation. We pride ourselves on being pro-active and we feel launching our latest 'remote learning offer' now in October 2020 will mean we are ready on the 'B of the BANG', as Mr Denton would say, should we need to implement extensive learning off-site due to an unwelcome Covid-19 intrusion.
As such, I have been asked to lead and manage the school's provision and am proud to launch our current offer below. This includes our school's commitment to supplying everyone with a digital device who needs it via our own unique 'Autumn Sign-Up' offer. We are prepared. We are planned. We hope we don't need it - but we are ready just in case.
It goes without saying that this initial core offer will be refined and developed as we review our performance and receive daily feedback. It is new territory, we learn from mistakes, we dare to do and we improve from there. This offer is a living breathing example of our core vision/intent in action.
